The Sunshine Coast's flag bearer Alligator Blood is likely to race in Sydney over the spring with trainer David Vandyke revealing on Thursday morning that the All Too Hard three-year-old gelding may well take his place in the invitation race, The Everest (1200m) at Randwick in October, followed by the Golden Eagle (1400m) at Rosehill.
"We have not taken a slot at this stage and we are just having some negotiations behind closed doors, nothing confirmed," said Vandyke in Melbourne on Thursday morning.
"It is mainly up to Allan Endresz, who is one of the syndicates involved in the horse. He has been negotiating and I will leave it up to him to talk about slots and opportunities."
Alligator Blood has won nine of his ten starts, plus $2.2m in stakes, with the sole second place in the 2019 Group 1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m to Super Seth. He won his last start in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes over 1400m at Flemington over Catalyst (NZ) after a straight long battle that was settled by a nose margin.
These two meet again in the eight strong field for the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday. Catalyst, with Damien Lane and barrier four, are the TAB market favourite at $2.60 with Alligator Blood, Ryan Maloney and barrier two, are at $3.10 on the second line.
Alligator Blood has also made the field for the $5m, All-Star Mile (1600m) at Caulfield on March 14th.
