Alvin Ng crowned champion of Asian Young Guns Challenge 2012 in Macau
05 Aug 2012 | Hong Kong Jockey Club Hong Kong representative Alvin Ng defeated other top apprentice jockeys of the region to be crowned winner of the Asian Young Guns Challenge 2012 at Taipa Racecourse, Macau on Saturday.

In the three races of the Challenge, Alvin Ng claimed 3rd placing in the saddle of Northern Kid in the first leg (1350M on sand); successfully won on board Carl’s Star in the second leg (1100M on turf); and finished 5th with Chinese Kiddy in the final leg (1800M on turf). He scored 40 points in total to become the winner of this year’s Challenge.

William A Nader, Executive Director of Racing of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, is delighted with Ng’s victory. He said," The Asian Young Guns Challenge is a showcase for young talented jockeys and Alvin is the latest big young gun from Hong Kong. After riding against big guns in Hong Kong during the past season, he is advanced for his age and it is a great credit to him to win this type of competition.”

The runner-up of Asian Young Guns Challenge 2012 is Malaysia’s Kamal Yazid, while Seung Un Seo of Korea is the second runner-up.

Apart from winning the Asian Young Guns Challenge, Alvin Ng also had another winner on the day.
