Diamond Jubilee still a possibility for Bated Breath
16 Jun 2012 | Racingpost.com

Trainer Roger Charlton said on Friday that Bated Breath could still run in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot next Saturday after suggesting the five-year-old's participation in the King's Stand Stakes on Tuesday would depend on the ground.

Bated Breath is generally 9-2 favourite for the King's Stand and is a top-priced 8-1 with Paddy Power and BetVictor for the Diamond Jubilee. But Charlton said he will keep an eye on the weather before coming to a definite decision.

Writing on his website, Charlton said: "With the ground being described as soft and good to soft in places at Ascot, I will continue to monitor the situation before deciding whether Bated Breath will take his chance in the King's Stand on Tuesday or the Diamond Jubilee on Saturday.

"The chances are that he will be declared for the King's Stand and a decision will be made, if necessary, an hour before the race as his preference would be for faster ground.

"Let's hope that we get some wind and sunshine before then as Ascot can dry out quite quickly."
