Tosen Reve another winner for Biwa Heidi
11 Jun 2012 | Racingpost.com

Report: Japan, Sunday

Tokyo: The Epsom Cup (Grade 3) 1m1f, turf, 3yo+

Favourite Tosen Reve (Yasutoshi Ikee/Craig Williams), a four-year-old half-brother to Buena Vista, gained his first win in graded company in the Epsom Cup.

Kept in third before the home turn and idling a little under the Australian jockey, he caught the leader Meiner Starry in the final furlong and held off the third favourite Danon Shark, who was catching him rapidly close home.

The Deep Impact colt, out of the 1995 Champion two-year-old filly Biwa Heidi, has carried great expectations from birth and he sold at the 2008 Select Sale in Hokkaido as a foal earning ¥220,000,000/£1.8 million.

He is the fifth graded stakes winner of the brood mare Biwa Heidi, a first in Japanese racing history. The other progeny are Admire Japan, Admire Aura, Buena Vista and Joie De Vivre.
