Camelot and Dunaden entered in King George
07 Jun 2012 | Racingpost.com

A potential clash between Derby hero Camelot and Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden is on the cards in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on July 21.

They appeared in the list of 37 entries published on Wednesday for the Betfair-sponsored feature.

Also entered are Friday's Oaks winner Was and Godolphin's Monterosso, who landed the Dubai World Cup in March.

Last year's King George winner Nathaniel also features as does Sea Moon, whose trainer Sir Michael Stoute recorded back-to-back wins in the mid-summer feature with Conduit in 2009 and Harbinger a year later.

Classy gelding Cirrus Des Aigles, a winner at Ascot in the Champion Stakes last year, is an intended runner.

Trainer Corine Barande-Barbe said: "We plan to run Cirrus Des Aigles in the King George and he will either run in the Prince of Wales's Stakes or the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud beforehand.

"I want to see what is entered in both races before making a decision, but there will be good horses in both races.

"The key to him is a fast pace, which makes him perform better, but he doesn't get that in France. He turned six on May 8, but he still appears to be improving and growing, so hopefully he will race for another couple of years."
