Connections of Strawberrydaiquiri are hoping the step up to 10 furlongs for the first time will help her put up a bold show in the Group One Blue Square Nassau Stakes (2000m) at Glorious Goodwood on Saturday.

Sir Michael Stoute's four-year-old has raced almost exclusively at a mile and finished fourth on both her previous starts at Group One level, including behind Music Show in the Falmouth Stakes last time out.

"It's a highly competitive race, as it should be for a famous race like this. She came out of her Newmarket run very well and Sir Michael seems pleased with her," said Gary Coffey, racing manager to owner Renata Jacobs.

"She wasn't beaten too far last time and was a little bit unlucky in running. Horses veered across in front of her and Ryan (Moore) had to check, meaning the filly lost her momentum, but she finished the race well.

"We've always fancied running her over 10 furlongs to see how we go and she deserves to take her chance, so it's a case of fingers crossed.

"Midday is the obvious one to beat, but the two French fillies (Stacelita and Rosanara) are both Group One winners as well, so it's just a very good race and there will be no hiding place.

"We are keeping an eye on the ground as she doesn't really want it too quick, but I'd imagine everyone is doing the same. We're looking forward to the race and hopefully she'll put up a good performance."

Luca Cumani is under no illusions about the task facing his filly Contredanse, who progressed from winning a Salisbury handicap to landing the Italian Oaks on her latest start.

The trainer said: "She did well in Italy last time so we are ready to step up in class, but we are mindful of the opposition. It is a very strong race. The ground will not be an issue as it was quick in Italy, it is just a question of whether we are good enough."
