Light’s of Heaven (NZ) has capped off an outstanding day for the Peter Moody stable after bolting away with the $300,000, Group 2, Timeform Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Moody won the last three races on the program which included the Group 1 Queensland Derby and the feature Group 1 $1 million Stradbroke Handicap before an outstanding ride by stable jockey Luke Nolen ensured the treble for Moody.

Nolen took Lights Of Heaven forward from the wide draw to track the favourite Marwingo throughout, with long shot Za Magic taking up the early running with Reuben Percival and Larry’s Never Late also up there early.

Light’s of Heaven showed an outstanding turn of foot at the end of the 2400m race to shoot away from Marwingo and run out a dominant three length winner over Dance With Her in second who edged out Marwingo in third by a long head. The overall time was 2.29.62 with the last 600m covered in 36.35.

Moody, who now trains out of Melbourne after moving from Queensland was almost speechless after claiming a satisfying treble and said he owes plenty to his staff and owners back at Caulfield.

“It was a wonderful positive ride by Luke he wanted to take the race by the scruff off the neck and put her in the race and I wasn’t going to doubt him after his master ride in the Stradbroke.”

“I am a Queenslander at heart and it is great to come home and do it, what can I say it’s pinch yourself stuff,” said Moody.

“I am blessed, I have a wonderful base at Caulfield I think it’s the best training facility in Australia and I think the history at Caulfield over the last decade shows that.

Moody will hope the success continues with stable star Black Caviar set to contest the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot in two weeks time.

“We are really looking forward to it and the big mare has arrived in great shape so hopefully this is the start of a couple of great weeks,” Moody said.

“You get pigeon holed when you have a great horse like that and I am very fortunate to have her but we have a terrific team of horses and a terrific team of owners and we have nearly 200 winners a year and it’s about a lot of other horses.”
