Fairytale continues as Miracles Of Life wins Blue Diamond
23 Feb 2013 | By Glenn Moore

They were taking on the might of Darley, of Peter Moody, of David Hayes, but Daniel Clarken, Lauren Stojakovic and Miracles Of Life handled the pressure with ease to score a dominant win in the $1,000,000 Group 1 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trainer Clarken wasn’t far off giving the game up and apprentice Stojakovic had only just started her career but they brought brilliant filly Miracles Of Life across from Morphettville and breathed more life into what is now a fairytale story.
Barrier one was supposed to be problematic but Stojakovic rode like a seasoned professional, sitting just off the speed, taking advantage of a dream run after straightening before kicking clear to score a commanding victory in the second biggest two-year-old race in the country.
The win wasn’t a surprise though pressure can do funny things. However, Miracles Of Life didn’t know her rivals, she didn’t know the hype and in the end raced like a horse who had been a long-time favourite for the Blue Diamond Stakes.
Officially the margin was a length and a half to Fast ‘n’ Rocking (Arnold) with only a half head separating Godiva Rock (Kent) in third. The overall time was 1.09.76 with the last 600m run in 35s.

“That ride was just 10 out of 10, she knows the horse, she knows what she’s got and she used it to her advantage,” Clarken said.
“It’s a hard thing to do, to keep a horse up for a month, so it’s been a big effort. She is only a little girl so she doesn’t need to be hammered.
“I’ve just won a Blue Diamond,” a clearly joyous Clarken added.
With her proud parents watching on through tears, Stojakovic returned to scale to confirm what is no doubt the highlight of her short career; a career which has already seen her break a leg and pelvis in race falls.
“It worked out more perfect than I could’ve imagined really,” Stojakovic said.
“I jumped her out smartly, gave her a little bit of a push to keep her handy and sat behind the speed.
“Approaching the turn they just opened a run for me and I just quickly pushed her through and she just ran away, she is awesome.
“In the gates I said to Barbie that there was about a minute between us being good or great and after the run I told her she was just brilliant.
“I didn’t realise how good it could feel to cross the line in a Group 1.
“Balaklava tomorrow, I’ve got five rides, I’ll turn up, I’m dedicated.”
