The Myer Classic the goal for Mosheen
25 Sep 2012 | Mosheen was the surprise absentee when Sportingbet Cox Plate second declarations were taken on Tueday, but the classy four-year-old remains a Victorian Spring Carnival player.
Trainer Robert Smerdon said there were no issues with the four-time Group 1 winner and that he had run out of time to prepare her for the $3 million Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m).
The four-time Group 1 winner's major Spring target is now the $500,000 Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on 3 November.
“She'll go to the Blazer, Tristarc, Myer Classic,” he said. “We just ran out of time for the Cox Plate, simple as that.”
The daughter of Fastnet Rock started the season one of the leading fancies for the Cox Plate, on 27 October, but underwent minor throat surgery i mid-August.
She resumed in the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m), finishing 13th of 19 behind We're Gonna Rock, before continuing her campaign with a midfield effort in last Saturday's Group 3 Sportingbet Sprint Series heat at Caulfield.
The $220,000 Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) will be run at Flemington on Saturday, 6 October with the $220,000 Group 2 Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield a fortnight later.
