Scenic Shot retired
12 Sep 2012 | Multiple Group 1 winner Scenic Shot has been retired with trainer Dan Morton suggesting the veteran was showing signs he had had enough.

Being prepared for a tilt at middle distance/staying features over the Perth Summer Carnival, connections elected to retire Scenic Shot after the ten-year-old became unwilling to partake in trackwork at his Ascot base this past week.

A veteran of 74 starts, Scenic Shot recorded 17 wins and 16 minor placings with prizemoney earnings in excess of $3million.

The Scenic gelding claimed eight Group wins throughout his career with three of them coming at the highest level.

Scenic Shot won the 2009 and 2011 renewals of the Doomben Cup (2020m) while he also celebrated a spring Group 1 success when claiming the 2009 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.
