Cup money for Cummings trained import
13 Jul 2012 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk Melbourne Cup maestro, Bart Cummings, could have a chance at a record 13th Cup if the actions of one TAB Sportsbet customer are anything to go by.
The bookmaker reports that last week, the punter outlaid $1,000 each way @ $35/$9 on imported galloper Sanagas.
The galloper is in the care of Cummings and remains at $35 in betting behind last year’s winner Dunaden. Last week, another customer outlaid $3,000 @ $26 on last year’s Cup runner-up, Red Cadeaux.
While Dunaden is the current favourite he is unlikely to make the trip this year with connections consideered that he might receive too much of a weight penalty after his 2011 win.
