VRC bonus for Black Caviar
24 Jun 2012 | Victoria Racing Club Black Caviar's win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot has secured her the $A600,000 Patinack Farm Classic Bonus, as part of the VRC's ambitious drive to internationalise thoroughbred racing in Australia.

VRC Chief Executive Dale Monteith said that the win and the VRC's substantial bonus would encourage interest in Australian racing from a global audience.

"The Bonus was introduced by the VRC to attract international sprinters to Flemington's Melbourne Cup Carnival and to encourage Australian horses to prove themselves on the world stage," Mr Monteith said.

"Black Caviar has become a great ambassador for our sport and has promoted Australian racing on the world stage. The VRC is proud to acknowledge her achievements. Initiatives such as the Patinack Farm Class Bonus and the increased internationalisation of the Melbourne Cup Carnival will enable the VRC to deliver significant benefits to Australian racing," he said.

Black Caviar became eligible for the bonus after winning last November's Patinack Farm Classic on Emirates Stakes Day at Flemington. Her victory today means she is now eligible for a further bonus if she can secure her third consecutive Patinack Farm Classic win at Flemington on 5 November 2012 - the final day of the 2012 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
