Medaglia d'Oro will join Darley's Australian roster for the 2010 southern hemisphere season.

Darley have also confirmed that narrow 2008 Golden Slipper Stakes runner-up Von Costa De Hero will be available to breeders for the first time later this year.

Medaglia d'Oro joined Darley's US operation in Kentucky midway through last season after his first-crop daughter, Rachel Alexandra, won the Kentucky Oaks by 20 lengths. The four-year-old filly, who went on to earn US Horse of the Year honours, was one of three Grade 1 winners for her sire last year.

Consequently, the Grade 1-winning son of El Prado is currently standing the northern hemisphere season at a career high fee of $100,000. Among his 2010 book are 60 Grade 1 winners or producers including the dams of Bernardini, Footstepsinthesand, Midshipman, Saint Liam and Tapit.

Von Costa de Hero, who cost A$1.2 million as a yearling, registered his best run when a nose second in the Golden Slipper Stakes to Sebring.

The son of Encosta de Lago and the Group 1-winning mare Piavonic also won the VRC Sires' Produce Stakes and ran placed in the Group 1 Australian Guineas and Group 1 Caulfield Guineas.

Henry Plumptre, Darley Australia's managing director, said: "We are delighted that Sheikh Mohammed has decided to bring Medaglia d'Oro to Australia. Both Medaglia d'Oro and Von Costa de Hero are two exceptional thoroughbreds, and we're looking forward to offering them to our clients this season."

Fees and locations for both horses will be confirmed at a later date.
