Pierro opens as Golden Rose favourite
13 Jul 2012 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk

The Gai Waterhouse trained champion two-year-old Pierro has opened the $3 favourite to win the $1m, Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on September 15.

TAB Sportsbet reports that not surprisingly the autumn’s top performers dominate the betting, while Kabayan and Nechita also command respect.

Pierro, unbeaten in six races, has only started favourite in two of is races but the Lonhro colt is the logical favourite.

All Too Hard, trained by the Hawkes' stable, had his bubble burst by Pierro in the Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1400m at Randwick when a beaten odds-on favourite, while the Mick Price trained Samaready started favourite in the Group 1 Golden Slipper over 1200m and finished third after contending with a bad barrier.
