Good fields outside of Oaks for Randwick

There are big to capacity fields outside of the Australian Oaks for BMW Doncaster Mile Day at Randwick on Saturday with a total of 130 acceptances for the nine race programme.

There is a field of eight for the $550,000, Group 1 Patinack Farm Australian Oaks (2400m) with Streama and Full Of Stars expected to dominate.  Streama, trained by buy Walter at Warwick Farm, is the TAB Sportsbet opening market favourite at $1.60. Hugh Bowman rides from barrier six.

Full of Stars burst into Oaks contention last Saturday winning the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes over 2000m and connections paying the $15,400 late entry fee for the Flying Spur filly. Trained by Roger James at Matamata the filly will be ridden by James McDonald from barrier three. She is at $4.60 on TAB Sportsbet with Thy and Aliyana Tilde next at $8.00.

The third Group 1 feature of the programme, along with the Oaks and BMW Doncaster Mile (1600m), is the $350,000, The James Boag Galaxy (1100m) has a capacity field of 14 plus two emergencies.

Top-weight is Mic Mac, with 58kg, had drawn the outside barrier 16 for Christian Reith. Temple Of Boom and Thankgodyou’rehere have 57kg with barriers nine and ten with James McDonald and Rod Quinn respectively.

Title, 56.5kg, has barrier six for Jay Ford and Nobby Snip, 52kg, barrier seven for Tommy Berry.

The $100,000, listed Japan Racing Association Plate (2000m) is another with a full field of 14, with five emergencies.

Hawk Island (IRE) is the top-weight with 59kg and barrier one for Glyn Schofield. Herculian Prince (NZ) has 58.5kg and barrier eight for Nash Rawiller. In-form mare Fibrillation has drawn the outside barrier of 18 for James McDonald.

The two-year-old fillies have a field of 10 for the $100,000, listed Brookfield Multiplex Keith Mackay Quality (1200m) with Driefontein the top-weight at 60.5kg.

Driefontein was sixth in the Group 1 Golden Slipper over 1200m at Rosehill on April 7th after being slow away and coming to the line with some of the best sectional times of the race. She has barrier two for Tommy Berry.

Agueda and Meidung have 56.5kg with the former backing up from a second on last Saturday’s Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes over 1100m. Hugh Bowman rides from barrier 10. Meidung was third in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes over 1200m behind Samaready who was third in the Slipper. Kerrin McEvoy rides from barrier five.

The track is currently rated, as at Wednesday, as a Heavy 8 and the rail will be out 3m for the entire circuit.
