Rugby fever hits Warwick Farm
08 Aug 2012 | Australian Turf Club is getting behind the rugby's prized Bledisloe Cup by offering free entry to anyone wearing a Wallabies or All Blacks jersey at Warwick Farm on Missile Stakes Day this Saturday, 11 August.
Purchase a race book on the day and go in the draw to win four tickets to the Bledisloe Cup at ANZ Stadium on 18 August as well as a signed Wallabies jersey.
Saturday's eight-race program is headlined by the Group 3, $125,000 McGrath Missile Stakes; a 1200m weight-for-age test for seasoned thoroughbreds. Its honour roll includes racing icons in Commands, Dance Hero and Lonhro, who sires one of the hot contenders in this year's race; Pinwheel.
The Peter Snowden-trained seven-year-old Pinwheel will return to the track following a two month spell, and is likely to be the short-priced favourite on course. His main competition is expected from the Joseph Pride-trained Title who will face the starter for the first time since autumn.
The Rosebud for the three-year-olds is one of the lead-up races for the Group 1, $1M De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose with She's a Fox set to start favourite on the TAB Sportsbet market. Her main rival will be Mornington trained Pronto Pronto who ran second to All Too Hard in the Victorian Sires Produce Stakes last season.
