The Australian Turf Club has announced a thrilling prize for racegoers attending AAMI Golden Slipper Day on Easter Saturday. One racegoer on AAMI Golden Slipper Day will not only win the equivalent of 5% of the winning horse’s prize money – a whopping $100,000 – but a mini Slipper replica trophy, a photograph with the winning horse and a champagne celebration in the exclusive ‘winners room’.
The “Win The Slipper” promotion will see each of the runners in the AAMI Golden Slipper allocated an “owner” drawn from entries received from attendees at Rosehill Gardens on Easter Saturday, 7 April.
The “owners” will then have the thrill-of-a-lifetime experience of watching their runner compete for the $2m first prize in the Slipper on the biggest day of the BMW Sydney Carnival.
The “Win The Slipper” promotion follows the successful trial of a similar competition on Patinack Farm Silver Slipper Stakes Day where ATC Members had the chance to win 5% of the prize money on the Silver Slipper Stakes and Hobartville stakes.
ATC Chief Operating Office Ian Mackay said the free entry into the “Win The Slipper” promotion was a fantastic incentive to be at Rosehill Gardens on Easter Saturday. “One patron is going to walk away from the races with $100,000 without even having had a bet,” Mr Mackay said. “That should provide an Easter Saturday they'll remember for a long, long time.”
Mr Mackay said the similar promotion on Silver Slipper Day just for ATC members saw a 25% increase in membership attendances.
“Now we've decided to run the prize again on our biggest day of the year, and it's open to all racegoers - so every single customer can get involved by picking up an entry form as they enter the course,” Mr Mackay said. “A prize like this obviously provides an unrivalled thrill for the winner but we also hope it introduces a point of difference to racegoers in actually being at the races. It also introduces them to the extra thrill of ownership. Backing a winner is great. Owning that winner is much better again.”
One of the winners from the Silver Slipper Day edition of the promotion was thrilled to hear the prize was up for grabs again on AAMI Golden Slipper Day. Paul Hall from: “I'm glad it's being run again so someone else will also get the chance to experience what I did.”
