Other Comments / Explanations:

All runners competing in Race 8 were subject to Group 1 security protocols.

Race 1 - DrinkWise Plate - 1700 metres:

Sworn Evidence - had to be re-plated behind the barriers which delayed the start of the race. Bumped heavily by Love In The City at the start and in turn bumped My Nikita (NZ). Rider Craig Williams could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than the filly had lost its near fore plate.

My Nikita (NZ) - after being fractious in its starting stall underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race which delayed the start of the race further. Bumped and hampered by Sworn Evidence at the start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Tiffanys Lass - connections advised would be ridden further back; settled at the rear of the field.

Love In The City - jumped away very awkwardly resulting in heavy contact being made to Sworn Evidence, which in turn was bumped out and hampered My Nikita (NZ). Taken out off its course near the 1400m by Groovin (NZ) which after initially shifting in then shifted out abruptly.

Lilymorn (NZ) - began awkwardly. Near the 1600m had to be steadied when tightened for room between Groovin (NZ), which when over-racing shifted out, and Another Bullseye which was shifting in.

That Rings A Bell - raced three wide without cover. Checked near the 250m when Sworn Evidence (Craig Williams) shifted out when not clear.

Groovin (NZ) - had to be checked to avoid the heels of So Splendid (Hugh Bowman) which shifted in when not clear passing the 200m.

Craig Williams (Sworn Evidence) - was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that he allowed his mount to shift out near the 250m when not clear of That Rings A Bell resulting in that horse being checked. Craig Williams had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at the conclusion of the day meeting on November 16th and to expire at midnight November 21st, a total of eight race meetings (two metropolitan, six provincial) to commence at the conclusion of the suspension he incurred on Tuesday. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that the carelessness was in the mid-range and made concessions so as to not make the total term of his suspension manifestly excessive.

Hugh Bowman (So Splendid (NZ)) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that he permitted his mount to shift in passing the 200m when not fully clear of Groovin (NZ) resulting in Groovin (NZ) having to be checked to avoid the heels of So Splendid. Hugh Bowman had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 17th and to expire at midnight November 21st, a total of five race meetings (one metropolitan, four provincial) to commence at the conclusion of the suspension incurred on Tuesday. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, the carelessness was in the low range and made concessions so as to not make the total term of his suspension manifestly excessive.

Mr Garcia (GB) - knuckled on jumping away.

Carraig Aonair - began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered Ebediyin (IRE).

Shards - had to be steadied and shifted in slightly to avoid the heels of Noumea (IRE) near the 1600m. Near the 300m had to be steadied when tightened for room between Noumea (IRE) which shifted out slightly and Souchez (, which shifted in. Rider Michael Dee reported that his mount was not suited by the slow tempo and that it raced keenly as a result.

Portion Control - had to be steadied near the 1600m to avoid the heels of Shards. When weakening near the 50m, had to be checked when tightened for room between Von Tunzelman (NZ), which shifted out slightly, and Noumea (IRE) which was taken in by Souchez (Corey Brown) which shifted in.

Race 4 - Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Final - 1600 metres:

Zagaya - connections advised would be ridden further back if circumstances permit; went forward and led the race.  Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Captain Rhett - began awkwardly resulting in apprentice Jack Martin becoming unbalanced.

Barry The Baptist - raced wide without cover in the middle stages.

Nights Watch (NZ) - near the 500m had to be steadied out across heels to gain clear running.

Il Divo - began awkwardly and was then hampered by Free Fly Too which also began awkwardly and shifted in.

Free Fly Too - began awkwardly, shifted in and hampered Il Divo. Over-raced in the early and middle stages and when doing so had to be checked near the 1200m to avoid the heels of Il Divo. Rider Craig Williams reported his mount over-raced and hung out.
