Fillies bred like Sepoy at Melbourne sale
14 Aug 2012 | By Brian Russell Elusive Quality, the Darley shuttled Mr. Prospector grandson who is the sire of Sepoy (Australian juvenile champion, won Golden Slipper, Blue Diamond Stakes), Smarty Jones (Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes), Raven’s Pass (Breeders’ Cup Classic) and Camarilla (AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes), to mention but four notables, has three attractive breeding propositions in the Racehorse section of the Inglis Melbourne sale to be held on August 16 and 17.
Both 2008 foals, two of them, Luck’s Elusive (a/c Wood Nook Farm) and Birdlife (Darley), like Sepoy and Camarilla, are from Danehill mares. A lightly raced country winner, Luck’s Elusive is from Perfect Luck, a half-sister to crack sprinters Gold Ace and Final Card, while Birdlife is from Needletail (IRE), a daughter of Indian Skimmer, a Storm Bird winner in Europe of five Group1s.
Also produced in 2008 and representing Darley, the other Elusive Quality in the Racehorses section is Actors Guild, one of three foals produced by the Sadler’s Wells mare Theatre School (IRE).
Elusive Quality also has 2008 foal, Villainy (a/c Ladyship Lodge), among the broodmares. She is from Analyst (IRE), a sister by Snippetson’s broodmare sire Polish Precedent to French Group 2 winner Sobieski.
The Elusive Quality offspring are among over 200 females in the Inglis catalogue, nearly 100 of them in the racehorses. Wood Nook also offers fillies in this section by Encosta de Lago, Pins, Rock of Gibraltar and Elvstroem, and Darley offspring of Ad Valorem, Iglesia, Strategic, Lonhro, Commands and Cape Cross.
A special feature of the sale is to be the submission of 21 mares in an unreserved dispersal sale for Wadham Park, Tylden, Victoria. They include offspring of Redoute’s Choice, Dehere, Rock of Gibraltar, General Nediym, Hussonet, Stratum, Encosta de Lago, O’Reilly, More Than Ready, Fastnet Rock, Bel Esprit, Snitzel and the Danehill sire Wadham Hill.
Wadham Park’s dispersal also includes 15 male racehorses, among which are winners by Flying Spur, Royal Academy, Fastnet Rock and Encosta de Lago,
