Victorian point of consumption tax passes parliament

The Victorian state parliament has passed the Government's point of consumption tax for online betting companies, which is expected to take in $30 million.

From January 1, 2019, the Victorian Government will replace the current wagering and betting tax structures with a point of consumption tax that is set at eight per cent.

Victoria has the lowest point of consumption tax in Australia after NSW set the tax rate at 10 per cent while South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland have a rate of 15 per cent.
