Master The World is in the mood to spoil the party as he strives to extend his fine winter form into the spring at Newmarket.

The Winter Derby winner has to give weight to two Group 1 winners, Deauville and Robin Of Navan, but is not an opponent to take lightly on a track where he has winning form, according to trainer David Elsworth.

The grey, who cost Kevin Quinn, joint-owner with Chris Benham, just 15,000gns in 2013 continues to improve with age, delivering a handsome profit by taking his prize-money to in excess of £425,000 from 51 starts.

Without his 3lb penalty, Master The World is 12lb inferior to Deauville on official ratings but is still expected to go close with race fitness on his side.

Elsworth said: "The horse has been running to a pretty good level. He's got his penalty, which is a slight disadvantage, but I fancy him to run well.

"He's a course-and-distance winner and got beaten a short head in the Cambridgeshire one year, so he seems to act on the course.

"He's in a good vein of form. The ground doesn't seem to matter. All in all, if I'd backed something else, I wouldn't want him to be running because he could spoil the party. I think he has a chance of finishing in the first three."

What they say

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Deauville
Has done plenty of travelling – winning a Grade 1 in the US two years ago and being placed several times in domestic Group 1s. He's ready to start.

Richard Hannon, trainer of Euginio
I like the way he's been working and he has a history of running quite well fresh. I think he'll like the ground and will run well.

Richard Fahey, trainer of Forest Ranger
He had a good season last year. This is a tough race but we're happy with him.

Harry Dunlop, trainer of Robin Of Navan
The conditions race he was third in is proving to be a nice bit of form for us with the filly that won it, Hunaina, winning the Snowdrop Stakes quite impressively. He ran well in the race and hopefully will have a nice run back. We have options like the Prix d'Ispahan to look forward to.
