Frankie Dettori's intended Derby mount Private Secretary will not run at Epsom next Saturday, trainer John Gosden revealed on Thursday morning.
Private Secretary, who is owned by Denford Stud, was an impressive winner of the Sandown handicap Jack Hobbs landed before finishing runner-up to Golden Horn in the 2015 Derby.
However, the son of Kingman, who was a general 33-1 chance for the Classic, will instead be aimed at the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 21 after running in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood on Friday.
Gosden said on Thursday morning: "After discussions with the owner it has been decided to take in this race [at Goodwood] with Private Secretary rather than the Derby as the owner sees him more of a King Edward VII Stakes horse for Royal Ascot."
Private Secretary is one of seven runners in the Cocked Hat Stakes, a race Gosden has won four times in the last ten years.
The trainer could still be represented at Epsom by Humanitarian, who is a top price of 100-1. Sir Dragonet heads the betting at 3-1.
