Elnadim arrives at Westbury

The arrival of 1997 and 1998 champion European sprinter Elnadim into New Zealand at the weekend was heralded with the confirmation he will serve an outstanding book of mares including Australia’s VRC Oaks winner and multiple group race winner Grand Archway.

Elnadim, the winner of the Gr I July Cup, was among the first group of shuttle stallions which arrived “down under” in New Zealand during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Having not seen the stallion prior to his arrival, Westbury Stud’s managing director Russell Warwick said: “We are delighted with Elnadim as a horse, there is no room for disappointment he has a wonderful temperament, he has size, quality, and excellent scope – making him an ideal cross for New Zealand mares.

“Couple the world-class pedigree of Elnadim with the emphatic performances in Europe’s best sprint races, he must be among the highest credentialled stallions at stud in this part of the world,” Warwick said.

Perhaps stud manager David White summed up Elnadim best, when he described the horse by saying “He’s a grand horse in every respect” in his eloquent Irish accent.

Amomg the other mares heading to Elnadim at Westbury this season are the stakes performers Winning Wave, Superjet, Dazzling Belle, Futile, Sportsgirl Miss, Lady Tee, Luzarches, Ruby Turner, Santanea, as well has half or full sisters to the stakes winners Keeper, Hero, Tit For Taat, Station Hand, Acushla Marie, Clovelly Bay, Procrastinate, Kampaign, and Show and Tell (USA).

Add to the list mares by Machiavellian, Irish River, Clever Trick, Sunday Silence, Sir Tristram, Nassipour, Last Tycoon, Afleet, Kenmare, Umatilla, and it is not hard to see Elnadim will receive an excellent opportunity at stud in New Zealand.

An imposing 16.1hh stallion by world champion sire Danzig from the Exclusive Native mare Elle Seule, Elnadim is the first stallion to shuttle out of Shadwell Farm in Kentucky. Elnadim was bred and raced by Sheikh Hamdam al Maktoum and trained by top English trainer John Dunlop.

Elnadim is from the Group Two winner Elle Seule, a daughter of champion producer Fall Aspen and half sister to Group Two winner Colorado Dancer (dam of the ill-fated Dubai Millennium). Among Elle Seule’s half or full siblings are Timber Country, Fort Wood, Hamas, Bianconi, Northern Aspen, Prince of Thieves, Sheroog (dam of Kabool), and Dance of Leaves (dam of Medaaly & Charnwood Forest).
