Impressive Prix Maurice de Gheest heroine Moonlight Cloud looks set to make a quick reappearance in Sunday's Prix Jacques le Marois over 1m at Deauville, after featuring among 16 left in the race on Wednesday.
The filly hacked up in the shorter Maurice de Gheest last Sunday and trainer Freddy Head said on Wednesday morning: "Moonlight Cloud came out of her race well and all lights are green to run in the Jacques le Marois."
A strong British and Irish challenge looks likely with Cityscape, Most Improved, Caspar Netscher, Fallen For You and the Prix Rothschild course and distance winner Elusive Kate remaining. Aidan O'Brien is considering the €600,000 race for Excelebration, Power, Requisition and Reply.
Among the home team are the Andre Fabre-trained triple Group 1 winner Golden Lilac, who failed to catch Elusive Kate in the Rothschild last time out. Siyouma and Tin Horse are other big names in the mix.
The track at Deauville has been left saturated with recent downpours and 11mm fell in just ten minutes last Monday. The weather is set fair now until Sunday, when there could be thundery showers.
Clerk of the course Olivier Louit said on Wednesday: "The track is dying up and the ground is currently very soft."
