The 'Last Word' on Wyong races
04 Apr 2012 | By Gary Harley - racingnsw.com.au In-form Sydney jockey Tommy Berry should continue his run of success when he rides at the Wyong race meeting on Thursday.

The best of the 21-year-old's mounts is Cafe Nero in Race 3 (Diggers @ The Entrance Class 1). The 3yo trained by Angela Davies was unlucky in his most recent start at Newcastle on March 24. Given a perfect run back along the rail to the home straight, Café Nero was badly blocked for a run at the 150m and the race was as good as over when he got clear. He was only beaten 1.6 lengths and he will be at a short quote on Thursday.

Another good ride for Berry is More Than Irish, the topweight in the final event (Toukley Golf Club Benchmark 55). More Than Irish has had a freshen up since he failed at Canterbury on March 12. Berry was aboard two runs earlier when he bolted in at Gosford on February 9 and finished second to the smart Frozen Rope at Gosford two weeks earlier.

The consistent Whatawoman was placed in two of her three starts and is another winning prospect for Berry in Race 7 (The Bay Sports Club Maiden).

Leading trainer Peter Snowden only has the one starter on Thursday and she could be a winner. Baize a daughter of Commands and resumed from a spell to demolish a Maiden field at Muswellbrook on March 16 and she had been placed in her only two previous starts at Hawkesbury. The mare runs in Race 4 (Mingara Recreation Club Class 1), has an ideal draw and Josh Parr will ride her.

Guy Walters's filly Cahuenga put the writing on the wall with a good third on this track three weeks back and she has bright prospects in Race 4 (Mingara Recreation Club Maiden). Cahuenga made her debut at Geelong in August and after a spell she was transferred to Walter. The filly will appreciate the 1350m trip tomorrow.

Bart Cummings's 4yo Southern Alliance was responsible for an eye-catching debut on this track three weeks back will be hard to beat in Race 6 (Carlton Maiden Plate).
