13 Sep 2017 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk

Godolphin's Hartnell (GB) has already firmed in the market for the $750,000, Group 1 WFA Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday. After opening at $1.85 on Wednesday morning after acceptances with TAB.com.au by early Wednesday afternoon the bookmaker reported Hartnell was into $1.75.

“Despite a slightly sticky barrier, he has firmed from $1.85 into $1.75 and is all the rage with punters,” TAB’s Nick Quinn said.

Hartnell resumed for this campaign with a 2 1/4L win over Charmed Harmony and Black Heart Bart in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield on August 19th under Craig Williams. On Saturday Kerrin McEvoy rides and they have barrier eight.

The Darren Weir trained Black Heart Bart is inside at barrier seven fro Brad Rawiller.

Hartnell was the best backed in pre-post betting with 58% of the market money.
